Orthognathic Surgery

Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the teeth, jaws and facial structures. An orthodontist works on a team with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for this treatment approach. From 1988-91, Dr. Booth was on staff at Cook County Hospital, treating patients with accident related injuries and birth defects as well as facial and dental deformities. Dr. Booth continues this type of care for his patients in private practice requiring corrective jaw surgery.

Using the latest in 3-D imaging (i-Cat Imaging) and treatment techniques (SureSmile) patients can have highly precise surgical – orthodontic corrections done in 30-40 percent less treatment time. Modern surgical approaches greatly reduce recovery time and with titanium fixation plates jaws no longer have to be wired closed. These advances in technology and procedures allow patients to return to their normal routines soon after surgery.
